I absolutely love these two books! This is the second of a two book series (hopefully, it will continue - I would love for the story to continue) that focuses on a new adventure that has evolved from the the events that took place in the first book. The world that the author has created is inviting and mysterious. This book takes of our two detectives, Ritsuko and Mikani, and places them on a trail of new evil that they need to stop before it destroys their world. While working against their growing feelings for each other they must, once again, save the day. This book has the same delightful mix of supernatural, suspense, humor, adventure and love that the first book introduced to its readers. I would highly recommend this book for its unusual mix of content and for its characters. Ritsuko and Mikani are both strong characters that are a perfect combination. In addition, the revolving cast of smaller characters are engaging as well and help to move the story along.
In this book, the detectives are being summoned to investigate the mysterious happenings that have started to happen after their success from their first case. As the story continues the detectives begin to realize that the problems stem from their first investigation and they may be the only ones who can stop it. In addition to fighting off their ever increasing amount of foes and trying to devolop allies in the most unlikely of places they are both trying to ignore their growing attraction. The author has put in just the right amount of romance that provides a great balance to their sleuthing and adventure. The story ends with both of our hero detectives figuring out what to do next after escaping the immediate danger knowing that the choices they made in this book only put them into deeper danger and problems.
The only bad thing about this book? I haven't seen anything about a third.

Silver Mirrors An Apparatus Infernum Novel Book 2 edition by A A Aguirre Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I liked this one a lot better than Bronze Gods although I wish that the explanation of the history of the Ferishers (Fey) and what exactly happened to them. I mean if their descendants only have like a sliver of Ferisher blood long lived/immortal then shouldn't the pure blood ones be immortal as well? I may have read over it too quickly or wasn't paying close attention in case it was explained but I mean the Ferishers just up and vanished leaving behind their kin. The summary on Goodreads says that their bodies withered and died turning their souls into angry hungry spirits that haunt the countryside but how did they wither and die? Why? And just who is the Architect?
Anyway back to Silver Mirrors. The action didn't start out in the middle like Bronze Gods did but almost started out right off which was a plus for me. When I have to read almost halfway through the book just to get some action scenes-not the sexual kind-I give up on it. But in Silver Mirrors the action was quick to start and continued throughout the book another bonus. I enjoyed the growing feelings between Ritsuko and Mikani and only wish that they had acted on those feelings. I wasn't too thrilled about Mikani's ex weather witch showing up but hey, every good story gotta have a complicated love triangle right? I enjoyed how the author(s) got creative with the four elementals, what they were and all that. I disliked how Ritsuko was drawn toward another man even with her feelings for her partner on the rise. The moments when Mikani is fiercely and violently protective of his partner had me going "aww, that's sweet even if he did almost kill the guy(s)". And when he's so desperate and frantic, the emotion and pain he felt and experienced had me wishing that their blossoming romance would quickly happen. There were a few parts where I was unsure of what exactly what was going on, mostly because of the words used and the phrases. I wish the authors would use easier words to describe something, I get that it's steam punk but when I'm always having to look up the meaning of a word I already know because my definition doesn't seem to match with what the word being used in the sentence it loses points. I enjoy how Ritsuko is so proper and a respectful young lady and yet she can still kick ass in her fancy clothes and just filthy. I enjoy how Mikani seems to be softening and it's because of Ritsuko I'm just afraid that she's going to soften him up and some other woman will come by and snatch him up before the two of them can get something going.
The action in this book is great as well as the increasing attraction and feelings between Ritsuko and Mikani is wonderful as well as how the authors can show you a world that you've only dreamed about. I enjoyed how the story flowed mostly, there were a few places where it was choppy and didn't flow as smoothly and how each chapter seemed like a new adventure keeping the reader keep on reading all night long. I could barely put my down or my phone-kindle app-and having to work just about killed me because I could barely wait to get back to reading.

Characters development B+
Flowing of story A-
Action/Adventure A+
Explanations B-
So pretty much the book was great and I will definitely read it again in the future.
Silver Mirrors was quite different from the first book, more of an adventure story with a hunt for the explanation of why things in the society that rely on elementals are going haywire than the more straightforward investigation of the first book.

I liked Silver Mirrors, but I had problems coming back up to speed on the series (since the situation for the leads was so different there weren't many little niggles of what had come before to nudge my memory) and for some reason, I had a really hard time remembering which name went with which lead when they were referred to by their surname - so initially I had to pause and think which was which whenever I saw Risuko or Mikani. I did finally get back in the grove and I warmed up to the adventure and I liked the interactions with the secondary characters and I am looking forward to more from the series - and hoping for some fulfillment of the promise of romance. (it's just how I roll)
I didn't care, pretty much sums up this book for me. I read the Bronze Gods and really enjoyed the world building. I jumped into this book right after I finished the previous one. I was so excited to see where the Inspectors next adventure took them. The book picks up a month after the events of the Bronze Gods and Mikani and Ritsuko are on the road trip from hell. I don't think the characters or the world building was established enough to remove the two characters from the city that they keep safe. Yes other authors can do road trips but they have established characters and relationships fully before they give the characters a new environment to navigate. I care a lot about the relationship between Mikani and Ritsuko, it isn't a sexual one, but they both have real feelings for each other and in this book the growth of those feelings was stagnant. Urgh.

I am not giving up on this series because A.A. Agurrie writing is really good, when she sticks to the main characters of the series.

This book can't be read as a standalone as it is part of a series.
