Like in his "Black & Orange", Ethridge has created a world that is just enough like ours (or what it could be in this book) to be familiar, but different enough to be disturbing. This dark Sci-Fi mystery unfolds slowly, as we follow the amensiatic main character as she regains her memories, meets people (and creatures) from her past, and works towards a final confrontation with both the woman she used to be and the psychotic forces that took her memory in the first place. The world and characters are well drawn, and there are some starling concepts at work here that evoke dread and marvel at the same time. Well worth your time.

I'm not known for liking science fiction, with very few exceptions, and I tend not to like what's commonly termed as "hard SF" which is science fiction that focuses more on the science aspect, the technicalities, etc, as opposed to "soft SF" which has sci-fi elements, but is ultimately a fantasy story, or it's a drama that just happens to be set in space. Nurse Maggie more than fulfills her role as a memorable villain, one of those people you will truly love to hate, and June, the titular Dungeon Brain, has secrets of her own that will make you as the reader question whether you're rooting for a good guy or just another villain with slightly different intentions than Maggie. So there you have it, readers. Even if you're not the biggest sci-fi fan, but you've enjoyed Ethridge's previous horror novels, you will definitely get a kick out of Dungeon Brain which is another finely crafted novel from the author's thankfully ever-growing repertoire, something I can't get enough of.
My half sister recommended this book. She said she had read most of the Dungeon series. I guess we have totally different likes in fiction. I have read tons of fiction, but I just never REALLY GOT THE STORY LINE, NOR THE WHAT WAS REALLY GOING ON. I MADE myself finish the book. When I was done, I had NO clue what I had read or what was going on!!! I will NOT choose another Dungeon series book.
even though I'm not that into Sci-Fi tis book kept my attention and kept me reading 'til long after my bedtime. I liked it!
There were a couple of parts in the this book that were outside my comfort zone, but other than that I really enjoyed the story. This is the second book I've read by Mr. Ethridge and I'm quite impressed with the originality and his style of his writing. Thanks for the good read!
I started this book without going back and reading the synopsis, and so was confused the first chapter, but then when I realized each new chapter, with a name at the top, was another person inside the Dungeon Brain...when I realized, then I went back and re-read the first chapter, and it was SO GREAT! I felt like the story fizzled out a bit at the very end, but I also don't know how I'd end it. A really good read!
I loved "Dungeon Brain". It grabs you from the beginning and keeps you interested and entertained the entire way through the book. My first thought when I started reading, and what was still my feeling when I was done, was that "Dungeon Brain" would make a fantastic movie! I recommend this book and this author if you want to read something exciting and different.
Dungeon Brain is an easy-to-read, quick-paced story that doesn't do any overkill in the details department. The antagonist, Nurse Maggie, creeps me out in the wonderful way that all antagonists, villains, and others of this ilk should disturb me. The amnesiac June is believable as a protagonist. The ending surprised me as well in a way that made sense to me. I'll be sure to read more from Mr. Ethridge as he has a firm grim on his storytelling.
